Arijit's Rising Music Career

During his grooming years Arijit joined the classes of Pandit Nihar Ranjan Bandopadhyay of the Bishnupur Gharana from whom he received his formal rigorous training in Hindustani classical music. However for Arijit classical music was not an end in itself His passion for virtuosity and versatility alike, and his fondness for all forms of music drove him to take up the tutelage of the legendary singer Shri. Ramkumar Chattopadhya from whom he picked up the Bengali puratoni style and learned to appreciate light classical music. It was during this time that he started appearing for occasional public performances and decided to take up music as a career And its no wonder that in this endeavour he finally landed at the doorsteps of the musical prodigy Pandit Jayanta Bose.
