Singer and Music Director Arijit Chakraborty spent his formative years under the grooming of several luminaries including Pandit Nihar Ranjan Bandopadhyay, Ramkumar Chattopadhyay and Acharya Jayanta Bose.
He was honoured with the prestigious Ananda Sangeet Purashkar for the best Debut Talent of 2002. Since then he has worked in numerous projects, TV serials, movies, corporate films and jingles. In this musical journey Arijit has received many a critical acclaim for his versatile vocal rendering and musical creations.
In the good old ’60s and ’70s when televised culture did not rule our lives and the evenings were ushered by the fragrance of incense sticks and the hooting of conch shells from almost every home, it was time for the family harmonium to come out from the worn out wooden box and the nuances of Indian music, Rabindrasngeet or classical, to be handed down from one generation to the other Arijit’s father Arun babu, a self- made singer who was later nourished by Manabendra Mukhopadhyay and Ramkumar Chattopadhyay belonged to this generation. Arijit imbibed this culture and ably guided by his father gently and unknowingly the seven swaras made way into his senses. At a relatively young age he was introduced to a variety of musical styles: Rabindrasngeet, Nazrulgeeti, tappa and ghazal.
